This had nothing to to with Batman and everything to do with population density

I don't think this shooting rampage has one thing to do with the murder of 12 people. He chose Batman because this movie out of all of them was going to draw the largest number of people in to one place. That is where he could do the most damage. That is why he booby-trapped his apartment, he hoped someone would come in when the alarm went off with the loud techno music and more people would be killed. This is a Timothy McVeigh, a man with no conscience who enjoys killing people. He belongs in a very small room for he rest of his life.

These silly blame games are worthless. Furthermore, this comes perilously close to blaming the victims.

Disgusted.

Might as well blame Jello, or Teddy Bears.

I think we all agree that the world would be better without Jello. (Although, what else would colonoscopy patients eat the day before their procedures.)

Okay! So Jello should be by prescription, only for colonoscopy patients. Just like the Boom-O-Lax (tastes like a Bon-Bon; goes off like an atomic bomb), that they also dole out to colonoscopy patients.

I think that's enough ridicule. But it was fun.

They are always injecting themselves into the consonant's parties.

And so selfish. It's always "A" this and "I" that.

are a hell of a lot more crowded than a city in the western US and people have learned to be civil.

We might start seeing more of this because of hopelessness. That's the real problem, not urban crowding.

It has little to do with anything else except those twin American obsessions, and pointing out every little detail of what might have caused it is an exercise in futility.

Bath? Happy Land? How did they and many others happen if guns are the problem? Both those off the cuff examples had no desire for fame either - only revenge. Sometimes people kill a large number of people because they feel the desire to do so. Not even mental health, unless you assume that mass murder in itself is diagnostic, which is a tad a posteriori to be useful. It happened before guns, before mass media, before the internet. Assuming human survival, it will happen long after guns and bullets are museum pieces. Until we evolve into some Vulcan-like species with total emotion override, these things will happen from time to time.

All I am just saying is that I have been people talking about this guy using the Batman movie as a reason for the shooting, like this idiot was emulating something from the movie. What I am saying is this guy wanted to kill a lot of people, for whatever twisted reason, he wanted to kill as many people as he could and the easiest way to do that would be at a crowded movie theater at the movie that would be extremely full because so many people were excited about the movie. It is absolutely not blaming the victims in any way.

All I'm saying is that there ARE reasons why this happened but I am willing to bet the plot or the characters in Batman are not among them.

But maybe I'm completely wrong, just my opinion.

Jeez this place can really be like a high school cafeteria, don't ask a about a person's opinion just make fun of them-nice. I was away for about a year, I guess I should have stayed gone.

1) Aurora, CO allows concealed weapons, so the population is not "disarmed by the law."

2) Shooting back at a guy in full riot gear with panicking people running through a dark theater wouldn't have helped matters at all.

Seriously, think before posting next time.

Ahem: projection.

The movie theater chain specifically forbid any guns being carried on the premises by employees or customers (except for LEOs naturally).

Meaning that CHL holders would have been prevented from carrying in that theater.

Meaning that your post was stupid on 3 counts (point 1, point 2, and your projection of ignorance at the end).

Think before you type.

/ouch. You may want to amend your post.

Sometimes they manage to avoid detection, but I have real doubts this is the case here. I've cared for many patients coming down from a psychotic episode, drugs or no drugs they often look just like that guy. They're internally and externally distracted, they come and go but mostly they're just gone. An ability to execute a plan is not synonymous with being oriented to reality. I think there have been warning signs for at least six years or more with this young man.
