IMHO, it's been artificially high for some time now.

I've noted at least two things occur when we get close to a POTUS election:

1. gas prices trend lower (don't want the voters pissed off about that!)

2. the stock market is artificially high

3. I don't want to burst your bubble but the market doesn't open up for another 45 minutes

And the Index Futures will give you a hint what will happen at the opening bell but they don't tell you a thing about where the market will be 30 minutes later.
