Prominent judicial advocacy group says Justice Alito cant be trusted with American democracy and calls for him to recuse

Source: Law & Crime

Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito recently came under fire for an upside-down American flag seen flying at his house in late January 2021 – a bit of symbolism widely viewed as signaling agreement with Donald Trump’s false claims of fraud in the 2020 presidential election. Now, a progressive judicial advocacy organization says the lifetime-appointed jurist “can’t be trusted with American democracy.”

The Alliance for Justice, a sprawling umbrella group encompassing well over 100 non-profit organizations, is demanding Alito no longer take part in high court case having anything to do with the 45th president or the Jan. 6, 2021, pro-Trump attack on the U.S. Capitol.

On Thursday, the legal and political establishment was rocked by a New York Times report about having obtained photos of an upside down flag displayed at the Alito home on Jan. 17, 2021. President Joe Biden would be inaugurated three days later as the nation grappled with the still-fresh aftermath of the unprecedented Jan. 6 riot.

While unclear how long Old Glory was displayed upside-down outside the Alito residence, the paper reported reviewing an email sent on Jan. 18, 2021, from one of the Alitos’ neighbors to a relative indicating the flag had already been flown upside-down for several days.

Entity making demands on this motherfucker who gives no fucks.

None.

What I’d like to see is he and his wife barricaded in their home, too afraid to set foot outside of it for any semblance of a normal life.

Because nevermind the Lincoln Project or the media or various "pajama-clad bloggers." What is our chosen leadership saying about the ongoing corruption? Is it appropriate for Biden to say something? Can we please get at least strong words, or act with a sense of urgency?

Because polite manners and iterative change are not working out. We are here because we refuse to "divide the nation," and we prefer to get along with the other side. Time to try something else. We are already divided, and they are trying to kill us. Please fight back.

... a Justice. More than a century ago for corruption. John Birchers campaigned to impeach Earl Warren for years over presumed political ideology. They claimed he was a Communist taking orders from the USSR and the Comintern.

However I'm wondering if that position might change after he wins his 2nd term, and he gets a BLUE House and Senate along with it? A super majority should make a big difference in his outlook.

and favor giving attention to what ever the right is doing and spewing and lying about to keep power and the money rolling in. Our democrats are masterful in committee hearings, always the smartest in the room. They are brilliant making public statements etc the problem is no one covers the left like the right is favored and covered in this country. Media give them more attention and allow all their lies and other mess to get out to the public!

Here is that story

I don't know when this interview by Sydney Powell, took place, but it is interesting.
It suggests that the purpose of the insurrection was to DELAY the electoral college certification to give Alito time to intervene on this legal challenge. But, Powell says they didn’t anticipate Pelosi reconvening Congress that day.

Watch both in this order. They are both a little over 1 minute and watch your jaw drop.

This is what goes on behind the scenes. We have a lot to thank Pelosi.

And I mean ENFORCE. It's clear they can't self-regulate. The oversight body should have authority to force recusal of justices who won't voluntarily recuse, and they should have authority to exact punishment for ethics violations.

I believe it's possible to create such a thing - Congress should just go ahead and do it and see how far they get with it (because of course it will be challenged). Congress does have some oversight functions of the SCOTUS. Maybe it's time to flex their muscle.
