.... The Orange Fuhrer considers these soldiers both suckers and losers.

The real macho men patriots stayed state side. Got military deferments for bone spurs, bunions, blisters, and fallen arches. While attending orgies at the Playboy mansion and at Jeffery Epstein's place for sex-caspades with thirteen year old girls.

It is amazing that General Kelly did not murder tsf at the Grave of the Unknown Soldier to shut his trap.

A congregation member, a veteran who spent time up north in winter with Native Peoples protesting the pipeline treated us to a most poignant message (not sermon). A man who set water out in the desert for refugees. A shy man with strong convictions and trouble with public speaking, he shared with us the symbolic meaning of the different parts of the place setting for the fallen to traditionally be set at dinner tables, in remembrance.

He struggled speaking in front of people, but felt honor bound to explain to us all what it meant and that "Happy Memorial Day!" was NOT what one should be saying. He did an outstanding job in educating us as his personal way to pay homage to buddies who didn't get to come home to their loved ones.

He shrugged when asked if "big Big BIG Memorial Day SALE!" ads for retailers annoyed him. I took that as him silently telling us 'to each his own'.

I live in the Southwest, where many older people come to spend their last days where they would be warm in winter. There is a military base here, and a veterans' cemetery. When a veteran with no local family or loved ones passes here and is going to be interred, the local paper and social media put out word for the public and that veteran is not left to be put in his/her grave without an extraordinary attendance paying homage to the service given our nation. Family can be a lot more than just those sharing a blood line. When taps are played, when the final salute volley is fired, that veteran is not alone and there is gratitude and grace brought by the assembled.

It is NOT 'Happy Memorial Day'. I recall grandparents in the Midwest referring to it as "Decoration Day" and "Remembrance Day". Folks went to the cemeteries with small flags, and flowers. Widows and orphans were paid respect and given sustenance. There were no BIG MEMORIAL DAY SALES in St Joe back in those days.

I have no problem with people having a great time over the three day weekend - that's what freedom is all about - but certainly the sacrifices of the folk who help make freedom possible should be acknowledged.

It will just mean some people will get a day off, and other people will still have to work. People who run ambulances, work in hospitals, fire fighters and paramedics, law enforcement, and of course RETAIL workers and people in fast food establishments do not generally get holidays off. There is no one day where everyone in the US can just take the same day off. Not everybody gets 'bankers hours'.

Election day should become election WEEK or even MONTH so that everybody can vote. It is the reason mail in and drop box voting works.

Holidays always get subverted for commercial reasons.

I like MEMORIAL DAY and observe. We all owe so very much to those who gave their all.

just make early voting hours far and wide - it's repukes that hate this kind of shit because they know the more people vote, the less they win

it pisses the hell out of me when I see commercials about Memorial Day sales on TV or some fucking talking head who says happy Memorial Day.
This is not a happy day of celebration, its a day of remembrance of those that gave their lives in the service of our country.

I don't have a problem with people having a good time over their three day weekend because that's part of the perks of FREEDOM but certainly the sacrifices of the fallen should be acknowledged and remembered.

I am so pissed at the Republicans for blindly following
a bigmouth a-hole who insulted America's defenders.

You are owed an apology by the entire deplorable and unpatriotic G.O.P.

especially in red cities and towns, like when I'm contracted by WalMart to deliver to their store in Pahrump, NV, which is a very red town.

As a combat veteran of the USMC, it deeply offended me when Been A Dick Donald said that and motivates me to double or triple my efforts to keep this Sucker and Loser from becoming pres. again.
