The People Deliberately Killing Facebook -- Ed Zitron

https://www.wheresyoured.at/killingfacebook/

I was evaluating the use of Facebook by the US Gov't after it became popular in the early social-media days (MySpace, AOL, etc.) It was pretty obvious at that time (2006?) that it was a cobbled-together monstrosity and would be riddled with easily exploitable holes. Of course I didn't understand that the real danger to a platform such as this is that it controls all interactions. And wants to force its users to stay on the platform.

Sounds like a cult to me.

if there’s a viable replacement for FB, quite a few international friends don’t know it.

ago, I used it to share photos and events of the kids with my mom and dad, etc. Mostly a family thing.
The place got so damn toxic and hateful, Id had enough. I killed my account and never looked back. Reminds me of some other places a little bit too much.
