HIV/AIDS Support
Related: About this forumLet's talk CD4 count.
About a month ago I went into a Diabetic coma. I spent several days in the ICU & when they got my blood sugar astronomically high to just extremely high, I started to come out of the coma. This had never happened to me before so I did not know what the warning signs were.
Now to my CD4 count, when I was diagnosed back in 2005 I had a CD4 count of three. The Doctor told me I would not leave the hospital alive (I proved him wrong). It took me years to climb out of the 200's so I wasn't considered full blown AIDS. My CD4 count finally leveled off at about seven hundred. About 2 years ago, it climbed to 1450 which is great. Life was normal when it came to ny HIV.
Now my illness with the Diabetic coma sent my CD4 count to 141 (which puts me back in the full blown AIDS category which makes me susceptible to all illnesses again.
What are my chances this time? Time will tell.
I'm wearing my heart on my sleeve here.

(6,760 posts)Do what you have to do to keep it under control. Do some outdoor time to clear your head and soothe your souls. It will help. Big hugs to you!

(12,169 posts)I dont have HIV but do have type 2 diabetes mellitus. DM makes us susceptible to all kinds of, whats that word, oh, cormobilities, like less resistance to infections. Try to get your blood glucose levels as close as possible to normal range. This is one thing that really works to stave off diabetic complications.
Beyond that bit of advice that may or may not be helpful - I am hoping that you win against this.
