Former President Donald Trump’s planned campaign visit to Minnesota will mark his return to a traditionally Democratic state he has long argued he could carry

By STEVE KARNOWSKI - Associated Press May 13, 2024 Updated 2 hrs ago

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Former President Donald Trump's planned campaign visit to Minnesota on Friday will mark his return to a traditionally Democratic state that he has long argued he could carry.

Trump will take a break from his hush money trial in New York to speak at the Minnesota GOP's annual Lincoln Reagan fundraising dinner. Tickets start at $500, ranging up to $100,000 for a VIP table for 10 with three photo opportunities with Trump. The dinner coincides with the party's state convention.

Trump’s new state campaign chair is House Majority Whip Tom Emmer of Minnesota, who's supporting Trump even though the former president and his allies were instrumental in blocking Emmer’s attempt to become speaker last fall.

It’s unclear whether the Trump campaign will get any of the money raised. The campaign did not respond to an emailed request for comment, and Emmer declined an interview request. His co-host for the dinner, Republican Party of Minnesota Chairman David Hann, also did not respond.

Trump came close to taking Minnesota and its 10 electoral votes in 2016, when he fell 1.5 percentage points short of Hillary Clinton in a state that no Republican presidential candidate has won since Richard Nixon in 1972. He returned to Minnesota several times in 2020, but Democrat Joe Biden beat him by more than 7 percentage points when he tried for a second term..............................

................Trump was announced Monday as the featured speaker for the Republican Party of Minnesota’s main fundraising dinner. The Lincoln-Reagan Dinner is being held in conjunction with the Republican Party’s state convention in St. Paul, which begins on May 17.

If he goes back to places where he had rallies 4 years ago, they want him to pay up front. They know they'll get burned otherwise. Take a word from the wise, Minnesota. Don't let him in unless he pays first.

In Minnesota. Trump can be a verb, ie, rant, rage, lie, steal, fart, encourage hate and violence to honor him.
And he is devolving into a wide short stump.

yet we won both of them.

Minnesota is still going to be competitive like Wisconsin and PA. We can win but we have to work for it. Take nothing for granted.

Minnesota has affirmed a woman's right to an abortion.

Biden's 7% victory there in 2020 will grow to at least 10 - 12%.

Because I bet any kind of 'numbers' he gets will most assuredly have high percentage of sycophants who follow him to make trouble and bow to the orange gibbon. They won't be from Minnesota. Audience stacking is what bad game shows do to try and make things look good for the camera. That is what I am betting will happen here. There will also be a massive media presence because a certain Minnesotan with a penchant for stimulants and pillows will most certainly be fawning with the others. Popcorn, anyone?
