Second gentleman Douglas Emhoff will convene a panel in Atlanta on Tuesday focused on the role men can play in advocating for more access to abortion rights, according to sources familiar with the plans.
The event, timed to mark the five-year anniversary of Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp signing Georgias six-week ban on most abortions into law, is expected to feature health care providers, reproductive rights activists, local leaders and students.
Emhoff plans to stress the importance of men supporting abortion rights and using their voices to push to expand womens ability to get the procedure, the sources said. The audience is expected to be made up primarily of men and will include some students from Morehouse College.
The panel will be held in collaboration with Men4Choice, a group that organizes and trains men to fight for abortion access and mobilizes them to encourage other men to support their cause, the sources said. Men4Choice has also organized engagements with the second gentleman across the country, including in Florida, Arizona and North Carolina.

(50,354 posts)Trump wants to outlaw abortion, so any young man who has a one-night stand that results in pregnancy (DNA doesn't lie) will be on the hook for child support for 18 years. A man who gets a woman pregnant and wants the child might be looking at bankruptcy if a badly disabled fetus can't be aborted. Then, of course, there's just supporting the women in your life to make their own medical decisions.

Eric Hovde supported overturning Roe v. Wade, which led to millions of Wisconsin women living under a criminal abortion ban, without exceptions for rape or incest.
Im the only one in this race that Wisconsinites can count on to restore and defend their reproductive freedoms.

My opponent is as extreme as they come.
Eric Hovde supported overturning Roe v. Wade and said hes totally opposed to abortion. If elected, he would help Donald Trump and MAGA Republicans pass a national abortion ban.
We can't let him anywhere near the U.S. Senate.

Trump doubled down on his support for states monitoring womens pregnancies and prosecuting those who violate abortion bans if hes elected. Lets be clear: This is the future Republicans want, and they wont stop there.
Those are the stakes.

For too long, menopause has simply been written off as a womens issue. Women shouldnt have to suffer in silence. I was proud to stand with the amazing @halleberry and my colleagues to introduce bipartisan legislation that makes long overdue investments in menopause research.

(1,929 posts)This might look like the issue is abortion but in reality it is the right to healthcare for the women of this nation! That includes abortion, care of non viable fetuses, maternal health emergencies and more. Yes, its great that he is holding a conversation. May he find it in himself to ask the men to contact their representatives and Senators with their concerns. This is not a womens issue but hits this country on so many levels. Enlisted females, women in the workforce, women enrolling in school borrowing money all if this is not possible without contraceptives, reproductive rights, and a doctors obligation and right to care for them.

(18,041 posts)We've got Republicans pinned in a corner. Keep them there. They can't afford to embrace the position of most Americans for fear of losing their evangelical base. Abortion is literally a religious issue with those people and they won't allow any compromise so Republicans can't either.
