More than 700 protesters have been arrested on U.S. campuses since April 18, when Columbia University had the New York Police Department clear a protest encampment there. In several cases, most of those who were arrested have been released.
At Washington University in St. Louis, the campus was locked down amid protests and several arrests were made on Saturday evening, according to the campus police and updates on the university website. Jill Stein, the Green Party candidate for the 2024 presidential election, was among the arrested, along with her campaign manager and another staff member, a spokesman for the campaign said. It was not immediately clear how many people were arrested.
Earlier in the day, at Northeastern in Boston, protesters had set up an encampment on the campuss Centennial Common this week that drew more than 100 supporters. The administration had asked the protesters to leave, but many students did not.

I'm sure he or his advisors may have thought up the worrying idea that there may be some backlash against Jews in overseas countries as a result of the current IDF actions?
Saying 'Us Jews' makes it sound like it's a war between Jews and the rest of the world, and calling for draconian repression of any views not aligned with yours isn't a good look.
Tolerance and unwinding of the violence is the answer. Not some repressive and revengeful approach.

(5,848 posts)Yes, we are under attack everywhere. And have been in western civilization for centuries.
Tolerance? Do I need to go through history and mention all the times the rest of the world has "tolerated" us? We have to show tolerance to those that have spit on us, abused us, oppressed us, and murdered us. I keep forgetting that.

(5,485 posts)Jews aren't unique in that respect.
Look at world news beyond your patch and see the various ethnic based conflicts that are killing thousands of people.
But if you want to declare war on the rest of the world because Jews have been victimised as a group in the past, and it is continuing to happen, please carry on.
It's an answer. Maybe not the right one though.

75 years of Palestinian terrorist attacks are enough. Oct 7th, the people in Gaza celebrated the slaughter of 1200 Jews and the world responded with tepid consternation. The FAFO and Israel responded and the world has lost its mind.
Sorry. Enough is enough. NEVER AGAIN!
