'Carry-dite-bye-raye-sigh-en': Trump mocked as rally shows his 'slurring is getting worse'

Donald Trump was ridiculed online after his rally on Saturday, including for appearing to "slur" his words. The former president spoke in New Jersey over the weekend, where he confused people with his comments about "O.J." and appeared to mistake Beijing for Taiwan. But that's not all that stood out to online viewers.

In another apparent slip-up, Trump was talking about the criminal charges he's facing. He once again claimed, without providing any evidence, that President Joe Biden is behind the state-based hush money cover-up case where he's currently sitting through a trial. Trump has pleaded not guilty to those charges in a New York court.

"I've come here from New York, where I'm being forced to endure a Biden show trial, all done by Biden," he said before slurring his speech. He then returns to the script, saying, "All being done by him, carried out by radical Democrat district attorney."

@Acyn said on social media that Trump's "slurring is getting worse." @JoJoFromJerz, trying to mimic what Trump accidentally said, wrote, "Carry-dite-bye-raye-sigh-en." Former prosecutor Ron Filipkowski asked, "What language is this?" Bill DeMayo wrote, "I don't even know wtf that second part is supposed to be dang." @LiftForever67 added, "A slurring conman promising his followers money if they text him. You can't make this stuff up."

"Carry On Wayward Son"

Carry on my wayward son
There'll be peace when you are done
Lay your weary head to rest
Don't you cry no more

Ah

Once I rose above the noise and confusion
Just to get a glimpse beyond this illusion
I was soaring ever higher, but I flew too high

Though my eyes could see I still was a blind man
Though my mind could think I still was a mad man
I hear the voices when I'm dreaming
I can hear them say

Carry on my wayward son
There'll be peace when you are done
Lay your weary head to rest
Don't you cry no more

Masquerading as a man with a reason
My charade is the event of the season
And if I claim to be a wise man
Well, it surely means that I don't know

On a stormy sea of moving emotion
Tossed about, I'm like a ship on the ocean
I set a course for winds of fortune
But I hear the voices say

Carry on my wayward son
There'll be peace when you are done
Lay your weary head to rest
Don't you cry no more no!

Carry on
You will always remember
Carry on
Nothing equals the splendor
Now your life's no longer empty
Surely heaven waits for you

Carry on my wayward son
There'll be peace when you are done
Lay your weary head to rest
Don't you cry
Don't you cry no more

No more!

It is (fairly obviously, I must say - and I'm British, so I don't hear American accents so much):

"carried out by ray - sorry, all being done him - carried out by radical Democrat District Attorney ..."

He goes on to claim that Alvin Bragg is corrupt and that crime is of out of control in New York. And that Judge Merchan is the most "conflicted" judge ever.

I don't think that saying the problem here is that Trump "slurs his words" is a good tactic. If anything, that just gives Trump the Rapist publicity. Some undecided people will, after being told he's talking nonsense, listen to what he says, hear that it's not slurred, but will then take in his message. What we should be doing is pointing out he's yet again defying the court rulings and trying to influence the trial process.

The close he got to "slurring" was pronouncing the first syllable of "radical" as "ray" before he stopped, said "sorry, all being done by him" (that was an odd aside, as if someone was objecting to what he'd said about President Biden, and I doubt anyone at his rallies ever tries to contradict him), and then started again at "carried out". It's just possible, I suppose, that he lost his point on the teleprompter, started saying "ray", realised he fucked up, and inserted the "sorry.." as an excuse to start again.

Again, I think it's a losing proposition to pretend that was "slurring", when it wasn't. It makes people listen to him, and also seems like crying wolf.

On edit: if it's "shushtained" you think is slurred (completely different from the phrase other people are talking about), then I'd say the "s" sounds are pretty clear, and not "sh". Certainly nothing you could get anyone to think is a problem. As for "id" for "it" - that's a standard feature of many American accents.

I simply can't believe people don't hear slurring. It's very obvious and not the first time.

But yeah I agree he's breaking the gag order for the millionth time. A jail time out is needed.
