Trump is OJ for white people.

They know I did all that stuff, they just don't care. Some people tell pollsters they won't vote for me if I'm convicted. Ask them if your baby is beautiful. They're all going to say yes.

I hope he's wrong about the undying love of his supporters. They have stuck with him as he has crossed line after line of the boundaries of responsible and decent behavior.

Has something changed? He appears abandoned by family, friends, and supporters in the New York courtroom- everybody but the Supreme Court. Is there a last straw, even in MAGA-land? Naps and farts. Real billionaires are concerned. You gotta love American democracy.

Trumpism is an example of pure tribalism.

What I'm hoping is that enough of his followers won't bother to vote.

my theory is that TSF told them to stay away. Likely he's worried that they'll be called as witnesses because he knows they know. So they're not with him to avoid giving Alvin Bragg any more ideas.

I'm thinking Jr. decided it was too risky to bring his blow into the courtroom and Eric's new job is ordering paper clips and making coffee for Lara.

As an old guy, I wonder how many adults remember and/or recognize the salient tidbits from the murder trial. What struck at the time was the way the Bronco chase preempted other programming. In my mind, more than any other single event, it marked the transition from news based on pedagogical and journalistic values to tabloid sensationalism and the mad scramble for eyeballs and ad dollars.

OJ "not guilty" was a statement/response/message to police brutality.
Several white officers were found "not guilty" of beating Rodney King.

The jury made up it's mind they that were going to find OJ "not guilty" as a response to the Rodney King beating.
OJ "not guilty" was the perfect protest.

The white cops were guilty
OJ was guilty is guilty in real life.

The graphic makes an analogy between the black community's support for a likely-guilty OJ and a substantial portion of the white population's support for an obviously criminal Trump. Analogies are imperfect. The support for OJ was in part a response to the injustice of the Rodney King trial, but also the experience of a lifetime of injustice from the legal system. Trump is telling his supporters that they too are victims of injustice - but it's nonsense. He is catering to racism and a profound sense of insufficient privilege.

The LAPD and America's justice system is so damn racist no fair person could convict OJ after hearing investigators on his case ***ADMIT*** to planting evidence on black men and calling PoC racial slurs!!

What the hell about that don't people get ?!

Racism doesn't and shouldn't be enabled if we hate the person it's going against

OJ had an officer of the LAPD admit on the stand they planted evidence on black men before, there's no such person on TFG trials.

... on people,

I don't know the deal with some folk and OJ but the ire seems to be aimed at him vs the racism of the LAPD and the US justice system that got OJ off.

Some people don't realize how racist America's policing is

Just think about all the more than favorable treatment Trump has got and he's just an old white dude, he's not even rich !!!
